You’ve already read Step 1 about choosing the style of wedding photography you want, now here’s Step 2 in the 5 part series on how to get the perfect wedding photographs from your perfect wedding photographer.
2. The dreaded shortlist!
Once you’ve decided what kind of photography you want, the next question is obvious: how do you find the perfect wedding photographer!? The internet is full of photography websites, each announcing that they are the “best wedding photographer” possible. It is important to realize that just as there are different kinds of couples, there are different kinds of photographers too! And not every photographer out there is perfect for your wedding. Take the time to go through their gallery and see if their photos evoke emotion in you. Do the style and feel of the photos match you and your spouse? It is easy to showcase a melange of 50 different photos from 50 different weddings and have an impressive looking album, but it is important that your candid wedding photographer stays with you from the beginning of your ceremony till the end, when the lights are shut off. Try to get photographers to show you a complete set from a single wedding to see if they’ve covered everything. Reviews are also very important in these scenarios. Ask your shortlisted wedding photographers to put you in touch with their previous clients and ask them about their experience. This could be a make or break factor and will help you choose the perfect wedding photographer for your special day.
