Whenever I get questions about pre-wedding shoots, it usually ranges from what we should do in a pre-wedding shoot to what more can we do? But the most vital question of all is what you should not do at a pre-wedding shoot. As one of the top wedding photographers in Kerala, here are my two cents on it!
Don’t get unrealistic – It’s easy to go all-out crazy while planning a pre-wedding shoot as the sky is your limit. But it really just messes things up. Keep it simple, feasible, and achievable. Don’t go all dramatic with your look, makeup, or even hair. A little grooming is great but you don’t want to look like another person, right? I love this shoot where Shreeya and Nijeesh were so comfortable in their element. No fancy suits or uncomfortable gowns – just simple, fun, and casual. This time is all about capturing those moments between you and your partner and that should look natural not just posed. After all, that’s what marriage is, the real deal!
Don’t forget about your partner’s wishes – Yes, I have seen this happen. To a point, I agree that the wedding is more about the bride than the groom because the bride handles a lot of the planning and usually grooms aren’t very picky on details. But a pre-wedding shoot is a couple’s shoot. He should be comfortable with the clothes, theme, and entire vibe. Talk to them, adjust a little where there are concerns and then plan the entire shoot. Trust me when I say that there is nothing that even the top wedding photographers in Kerala can do if you have a grumpy groom at the scenic backwaters!
Don’t overthink everything – Relax, it’s a pre-wedding shoot, not war! I understand a little nervousness but if you try to control everything you won’t relax and you will constantly be worrying about things. That shows in the photographs. Be calm, and composed, and let all the awkwardness or nervousness slip by! Have fun!
Don’t disregard your health and food – You might be surprised at this one but this is the most essential according to me. I have seen brides not eat a day before to have a flat tummy and feel dizzy the next day. Never skip meals before and on the shooting day as pre-wedding shoots require energy. Also, load up on your water and liquid intake. Lack of water will affect your body and face’s freshness, making you look dull and unhealthy. And one sincere request is to sleep on time the day before. Yes, I know that as one of the top wedding photographers in Kerala, Photoshop exists but imagine how gorgeous your pictures will look if your natural skin is glowing!
Don’t focus on just posing – It’s a shoot but it’s your pre-wedding shoot so don’t think of it as a magazine shoot. Sometimes the best pictures come out when you are doing something spontaneously! This picture wasn’t pre-decided and I feel it brings out the chirpiness in Kanika so well. So smile a little more, tickle your partner and have fun, we’ll do the rest!
